Brick factory investment article Factorio builder Frank Stitt has been trying to raise $50 million to restore a former Staten Island ferry that was damaged in an earthquake earlier this year.
The bridge is part of the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel project that has been touted as the biggest in the world.
The Staten Island bridge has a history of delays and construction delays, and in 2016, the bridge’s original builders had to abandon the project when a new bridge was built.
That new bridge opened to traffic in July.
The project, Stitt told the Staten Islanders’ Morning Edition last week, is a major undertaking, and the bridge will be rebuilt.
Stitt said he is looking to raise a minimum of $40 million to repair the bridge.
The company hopes to be able to finish the project by the end of 2019, he said.
Stitt’s team is now seeking investors, and it’s been trying for years to raise the money to build the bridge, which will eventually connect Brooklyn with Manhattan.
The Staten Island Authority, which owns the bridge and is responsible for building it, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Stith’s team has been fundraising for the bridge since 2016, according to an article in the Staten Islands Daily News.
The company is hoping to start building the bridge in the first quarter of 2019.
The project is expected to be complete by 2019, Stith said.
